West Florida Picks up Two Wins in Birmingham Before Heading into Conference

UWF finished first in 16 events

Birmingham, Ala
.- In their last regular season meet before conference, No. 11 West Florida comes home with two wins in Birmingham.
 
UWF improves to 5-3 for dual meets this season after they defeated Sewanee 236-61 and Birmingham-Southern 232-61.
 
The Argos touched first in the 200 yard medley relay (1:49.14) and 200 yard freestyle relay. Senior Yael Danieli picked up two wins in the 1000 yard freestyle with 10:50 and 200 yard breaststroke with 2:13.25.
 
In the 200 yard freestyle, sophomore Brooke Dorr posted a time of 1:56.53 to earn a first-place finish. Her teammate Morgan Mangum finished second to Birmingham-Southern and Sewanee with 2:03.63.
 
Senior veteran Ester Rizzetto picked up two wins in the 100 yard breaststroke (59.07) and 200 yard IM (2:08.18).
 
West Florida finished top three in the 100 yard breaststroke with Stefanie Markwardt coming in first (1:08.68), Kathryn Mipro in second (1:09.96), and Mikayla Puckett in third (1:11.59).
 
Freshman Lola Foley touched first in the 200 yard butterfly (2:14.80). Her teammate freshman Keely Stevenson came in second to Birmingham-Southern with 2:17.39.
 
UWF picked up first and second in the 50 yard freestyle with senior Abigail Williamson with first (25.19) and junior Caitlin Chandler with second (25.39).
 
Junior Kathryn Mipro finished first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 53.95. Her teammate Aimee Patterson came in second to Birmingham-Southern with a time of 55.71.
 
Sydney Hartis picked up first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:19.29. West Florida also finished top three in the 100 yard butterfly with Katie Balent in first (1:00.06), Abigail Williamson in second (1:00.53), and Brooke Simila in third (1:02.47).
 
On the boards, the Argos performed extremely well. UWF finished top two in the 1M competition with freshmen Gabriela McDougall posting a score of 237.50 and Elizabeth Bened posting a score of 182.25. McDougall came in first in the 3M competition as well with a score of 211.65.
 
Up Next: The Argonauts will have a little over two weeks to prepare for the NSISC Championships which will take place in Cleveland, Miss. from Feb. 16-19.
