LAKELAND, Fla. – The UWF women's cross country team finished 10th out of 18 teams at the NCAA Division II South Regional on Saturday morning, highlighted by tight finishes from the top six Argonaut runners. The 6K meet concludes UWF's season.
West Florida had the tightest spread of any team in the field, with just 27 seconds separating Chloe Rook and Leah Fenton.
Rook led the way again for West Florida, as the freshman ran a 23:29.5 in the 6K – the first of her collegiate career. She finished 58th overall.
Skylar Grant, Sophia Spalding, and Ava Baldauf finished consecutively in the 6K. Grant's 23:44.6 was followed closely by Spalding's 23:45.4, and Baldauf ran a 23:48.5 in her first NCAA meet.
Leah Fenton (23:56.5) and freshman Julia Alvarez Drago (24:01.3) also finished back-to-back, and Julianne Dennison rounded out the UWF lineup with a 25:46.6.
