MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The offense struggled to get going for the West Florida softball team on Sunday afternoon, and the Argonauts fell 6-0 in the series finale at Montevallo.
Despite the loss, UWF (21-9, 14-4 Gulf South Conference) remains in third place in the GSC standings.
Home runs from Montevallo spelled trouble for the Argonauts on Sunday. The Falcons got a two-run shot in the first inning from Hannah Carey, and conference home run leader Sierra Easterwood stretched the lead to 5-0 with a homer in the fifth, and Taylor Robinson hit a solo roundtripper in the sixth.
West Florida saw just four batters reach base in the series finale.
Erin Moon picked up the Argonauts' only hit in the second inning,
Madilynne Webb drew two walks, and
Madelyn Vasquez drew a walk in the sixth to stretch her on-base streak to 29 games.
Jeya Prasad took the loss, though she allowed just four hits in the complete game. The freshman also struck out five batters and walked just two.
UWF will visit Spring Hill for a doubleheader on Wednesday in Mobile, Alabama, before hosting Alabama Huntsville on Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10.
