SEARCY, Ark.- The West Florida women's tennis team added another win over the weekend with a 6-1 victory over Harding on Saturday afternoon. The Argos improve to 3-2 overall while the Lady Bisons fall to 3-9.
The Argos got the ball rolling in doubles, winning two of the three matches.
Carlota Verdu and
Aline Midori Da Silva gave the Argos a strong start to the day, sweeping their opponents 6-0 from the No. 1 position. This is the second time these two have paired up as they are 2-0 to begin the season.
Nathalia Mossambani and
Guadalupe Martinez grabbed another win for the Argos as the No. 3 pair, winning their match in a tiebreaker 7-6.
Mayumi Saguchi and Luiza Daub teamed up from the No. 2 position, but ultimately fell 6-1. The Argos won the lone point heading into singles play.
From the top of the lineup, Saguchi and Verdu captured wins for West Florida from the No. 1 and No. 2 position. Saguchi defeated her opponent Karli Roux 6-2, 6-0 while Verdu won her match 6-2, 6-3. Martinez could not come up with the victory from the No. 3 position, falling 6-3, 6-3 to Lina Romero. Â
Aline Midori Da Silva captured her third singles victory of the season in two sets 6-1, 6-2 from the No. 4 position. Daud dominated her match 6-1, 6-0 from the No. 6 position as she is now 3-0 in singles.
Jenna Svatos was victorious from the No. 5 position, 6-1, 6-1.
The Argonauts will be back in action on Sunday morning for their third match of the weekend against GSC foe, Delta State. First set is slated for 10 a.m.
