MONTGOMERY, Ala. - No. 4 UWF men's tennis (17-4, 8-1 GSC) passed its first test of the GSC Championship with flying colors, putting away Delta State (3-16, 2-7 GSC) in the quarterfinals on Saturday morning at the O'Connor Tennis Center.

Diego Duran and
Sebastian Rondon continued their winning ways in doubles, upping their record to 6-0 together and claiming their second 6-0 win against Delta State this season. This time, they swept Jacob Lubbe and Goran Krivokapic on court two.
Tomas Leston and
Sebastian Sotelo, No. 42 in the ITA Doubles Rankings, dispatched Harry Browning and Tom Rance on court three 6-1 to allow
Bernardo Costa's and
Albin Ekenros's matchup at No. 1 to be called early.

Ekenros got another easy win over Browning at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1. At the bottom of the lineup, Leston defeated Rance 6-0, 6-2, while Rondon won at the top of the lineup 6-2, 6-2 over Emiliano Elizarraraz. With a 4-0 lead and Sotelo, Duran and
Mateo Martinez all on their way to victories in the second set of their matchups, the dogs were called off early in this one.  Â

The win is the Argos' 24th over the Statesmen in as many all-time meetings. The regular season GSC champions advance to take on the other Mississippi school in the semifinals Sunday morning as top-seeded UWF plays No. 5-seeded Mississippi College at 10 am.
