PENSACOLA, Fla. - No. 18 UWF women's tennis (11-7, 7-3 GSC) wrapped up GSC and home play by getting back two wins after dropping their last pair of home conference matches, routing Christian Brothers (9-11, 3-7 GSC) 6-1 on Friday afternoon and Delta State (2-8, 2-10 GSC) 7-0 on Saturday morning at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

The Argos came up huge in the few matchups played as the Lady Bucs only had four players available. As a result,
Giuliana Sacco and
Guadalupe Martinez at No. 3 doubles won by walkover, as did Martinez at No. 5 singles and
Zoe Yasan at No. 6.
At No. 1 doubles, the action began as
Aline Midori Da Silva and
Carlota Verdu, No. 10 in the preseason South Regional Doubles Rankings thanks to their 12-7 record last season but paired for the first time in 2024, easily swept their matchup 6-0 over Viktoriia Grigoreva and Valerie Neumann. On the next court,
Luiza Daud and
Nathalia Mossambani improved their record to 5-1, the sole loss coming against D1 South Alabama, with a 6-3 win over Raheen Taranum and Chelsea Dzenga, putting UWF up 1-0.
Da Silva kept it going on court two by dominating 6-1, 6-0 over Dzenga, upping her singles record to 13-4, as did Verdu at the top of the lineup 6-2, 6-1 over Grigoreva. Now leading 5-0 with the walkovers, the hosts surrendered their first point as Taranum claimed a three-set, super tiebreaker win over Mossambani 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8).
However, Sacco answered with arguably her best matchup of the season. After running away with the first set over Neumann 6-0 but falling in the second 5-7, the contest advanced to a super tiebreaker, where Sacco led 8-0 before Neumann came all the way back to lead 9-8 and eventually tie it back up at 10 apiece. However, the junior from São Paulo, Brazil, sealed the deal for the Argos by scoring the final two points for the 12-10 final set score and the win.

As they did on Friday, Da Silva and Verdu opened the Saturday contest with a doubles win, this win 6-1 over Marie Guillaume and Maria Caride, to make the duo 2-0 this season. Martinez and Sacco officially sealed doubles with a 6-4 win on court 2 over Adriana Subias and Weronika Kaczmarska, though it was a formality at that point as Mossambani and Daud won by walkover at No. 3.
After going up 2-0 with Sacco's walkover win at No. 6 singles, Yasan easily dispatched Isabella Llano one court over 6-1, 6-0. Martinez took a pair of 6-1 sets over Kaczmarska at No. 4 and Da Silva salted away No. 2 over Caride 6-3, 6-0. After dropping her first frame at the top of the lineup, Verdu came back to put away Guillaume 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Once again, the final matchup came down to the super tiebreaker, as Mossambani, after also falling 6-2 in her opening set, took the second 6-4 and the final round 10-6 to finish off the sweep of the Lady Statesmen.
UWF wraps up its conference slate at No. 5 in the GSC standings, but will need to await the finish of other teams' GSC schedules to find out its seed in the GSC Championship. Next up is a trip to Valdosta, Ga., where it will play three neutral-site matches before traveling back to Columbus, Ga., to make up for their postponed contest with Columbus State and finish the regular season. The Argos begin the weekend against Florida Southern on Friday, April 13 at 10 am ET/9 am CT.
