PENSACOLA, Fla. - It was another day, another sweep for No. 1 UWF men's tennis (13-1, 4-1 GSC) at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon. The Argos scored their seventh sweep of the 2025 season, and their fifth in a match that was not called early, against a newly scheduled first-time opponent in Wisconsin-Superior (3-10).
 
The Argos rested their regular players against the DIII side after a home match versus West Alabama yesterday and ahead of a big weekend on the road with two ranked matchups. The hosts got off to another fast start as Bernardo Costa and Joaquin Estevez swept Blake Haugen and Brandon Chu 6-0 at No. 3 doubles. Mateo Martinez and Alex Maulouet then won 7-5 at the top of the lineup over Igor Guetten Chaves and Vitor Sakakibara to clinch the doubles point. The Yellowjackets got their lone reprieve of the day afterward, as Yash Chhabra and Sharan Kanugovi outlasted Jose Roa and Filipe Grebentsov 7-6 (7-2).
 
The onslaught continued in singles. Roa got his point of the day at No. 6 singles with the first of several resounding wins on the day for the Argos, a 6-0, 6-0 final over Chu. At the other end of the lineup, Maulouet defeated Guetten Chaves also in a pair of 6-0 frames. On court four, Grebentsov took down Mateo Abarca Pino 6-0, 6-1 before Estevez won by the same score against Sakakibara one court down. One court up from Grebentsov, William Meyering won 6-1, 6-0 over Chhabbra before Martinez finished off the day with a win via retirement against Kanugovi 6-0, 1-0. 
 
The Argos head to Cleveland, Tenn., for their next GSC match on Friday at No. 40 Lee at 10 am ET.
