PENSACOLA, Fla. – Following a successful fall sports season for the Argos, the University of West Florida is ranked No. 6 in the Learfield Directors Cup standings out of 124 NCAA DII institutions.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Institutions earn points based on where they finish in NCAA Championships.
The Argos earned 203 points in the standings which was tied with Western Colorado for sixth place. UWF is the only Gulf South Conference team in the top 10.

Dave Scott, Associate Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics. "We continue to dedicate our resources to "Build Champions for Life"".
In the fall season four teams made an NCAA Championship, including Football, Volleyball, Men's Soccer and Women's Soccer. Three of those four teams also earned hosting rights for at least one contest. The Argos received 53 points for football, 50 points for women's soccer, 50 points for men's soccer, and 50 points for volleyball.
The four sports who earned points also won a Gulf South Conference title in the fall. Football became Co-GSC Champions with a 2-1 record in conference play while both soccer teams and the volleyball team won the GSC Championship.
In NCAA postseason play the football team was the No. 2 seed in Super Region Two. The Argos won their opening matchup over North Greenville before falling to Newberry in round two.
Women's soccer didn't lose a game during the regular season and was the No. 1 seed in the South Region. UWF fell to eventual National Champion Florida Tech in the second round.
Men's soccer received the No. 4 seed in the South Region and hosted Rollins for a first round matchup. The Argos fell 2-1 to a Rollins team that advanced on to the National Championship game.
Volleyball traveled to Tampa, Fla. as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA tournament. UWF defeated Palm Beach Atlantic, 3-2 in the first round before falling to Tampa in the second round.
