Argos Down No. 2 Nova Southeastern to Advance to ITA National Women’s Team Indoor Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — West Florida (2-2, 0-0 GSC) edged past Nova Southeastern University (5-0, 0-0 SSC) 4-3 on Saturday in the semifinals of the 2026 ITA DII National Women's Team Indoor Championship. In a stunning upset, #7 UWF defeated #2 Nova Southeastern. West Florida claimed the doubles point with victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions and secured the win with singles victories at the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 spots.
 
West Florida secured the doubles point with decisive victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Aline Midori and Guadalupe Martinez claimed a 6-2 win over Noemie Dadoun and Chloe Henderson at No. 2 doubles, while Kylie Kochis and Valerie Gomez mirrored the result by defeating Priscila Janikian and Amina Sagadiyava 6-2 at No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match between #5 Sandra Recuenco and Carlota Verdu and #1 Kristyna Hranacova and Katja Markus was left unfinished with a score of 4-3.
 
In singles play, West Florida and Nova Southeastern University split the matches evenly, each claiming three victories. Nova Southeastern's #4 Kristyna Hranacova defeated #11 Verdu in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 1 singles. Markus added another point for Nova Southeastern with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Midori at No. 2 singles, and Sagadiyava secured a three-set victory at No. 3 singles, overcoming Martinez 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
 
West Florida responded with wins in the lower positions. Recuenco triumphed over #23 Henderson, 7-6(7), 6-0, at No. 4 singles, while Alberte Joergensen earned a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles, defeating Dadoun 6-3, 7-5. Kochis completed the singles action with a tight two-set win at No. 6 singles, besting Janikian 7-6(8), 6-4.

In their next game, West Florida will face #1 Barry tomorrow in the championship match of the tournament. After that, West Florida heads to face Mississippi College on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. in Clinton, Mississippi.
