PENSACOLA, Fla. — No. 16
West Florida (30-8, 15-6 GSC) secured a 6-2 victory over Lee (13-28, 6-15 GSC) in the first game of a doubleheader at the UWF Softball Complex on Friday, followed by a decisive 5-0 win in the second game against the Flames.
The Argos' bullpen allowed a combined two runs on the day, leading to a secured sweep of the Flames in the penultimate home series of the 2026 season.
Individual Highlights:
Haley Guffey's outstanding game 2 performance included facing 26 batters, allowing 6 hits with no walks, and maintaining a WHIP of 0.86. She recorded one strikeout and threw 61 strikes out of 91 pitches, improving her record to 19-3.
Hannah Harper pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and two earned runs over 7 innings against Lee. She struck out three batters and walked two, throwing 104 pitches with 67 of them for strikes. Harper's performance included nine flyouts and nine groundouts, maintaining a WHIP of 0.71, improving her record to 9-3 on the season.
Emma Brice was the Argos' most productive hitter on the day, going 4-for-6 with two runs including a 3-for-3 first game.
Harper also tallied 3-for-7 with two runs, a home run, and four RBI on the day.
Miranda Harmon added three runs to her team-leading total as well.
Game 1: No. 16 UWF 6, LEE
In the first game, Lee took an early lead in the second inning with Alyson Jarvi's solo home run, making it 1-0. However, West Florida responded decisively in the fourth inning, scoring four runs.
Nicole Mergen led off with a single, and a pinch runner,
Alex Whitfield, advanced to third after an error.
Emma Brice's single loaded the bases, and
Jessie Baughan's single brought in two runs.
Meg Fountain added another run with a fielder's choice, while
Hannah Harper's single drove in the fourth run of the inning, putting West Florida ahead 4-1.
West Florida extended its lead in the fifth inning, with Brice singling and Baughan tripling to bring her home. Fountain then doubled to score Baughan, pushing the lead to 6-1. Despite Lee's attempt to rally in the seventh inning with a run scored on a fielder's choice, West Florida maintained its lead to secure the victory.
Game 2: No. 16 UWF 5, LEE 0
In the second game, West Florida continued its strong performance with a complete-game shutout from
Haley Guffey. She allowed six hits and struck out one over 7 innings.
The scoring began in the first inning when
Miranda Harmon singled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Angelia Discenza.
Hannah Harper then delivered an RBI single, bringing Harmon home, giving West Florida a 1-0 lead.
Harmon made her mark again in the third inning, singling and stealing second. She scored when Discenza reached first on an error by the shortstop. Harper reached on a fielder's choice, and
Abigail Pippen doubled to drive in Harper, extending the lead to 3-0.
The fifth inning saw Harmon reach first on another shortstop error and steal second. Harper hit a home run to right center, driving in two runs and pushing the score to 5-0. West Florida maintained its lead through the remaining innings, securing a shutout.
