Argos Fall to Chargers in Opening Game of NCAA South Regionals

UWF will play Montevallo tomorrow at 2:30 CT in elimination game

PENSACOLA, Fla. — 2-seed West Florida (42-13) didn't have the opening game it had hoped for in the NCAA South Regionals, dropping the contest to the 7-Seed UAH Chargers (37-22) by a score of 4-0.
 
The Argos managed just three hits in the game, held in check by the Chargers' Katie Bracken, who ended the game with nine strikeouts. UAH moves on to play West Alabama in the winners' bracket, while Montevallo will face the Argos in an elimination game tomorrow at 2:30 CT.
 
Individual Highlights:
 
Abigail Pippen went 2-for-3 on the day for the best batting average among the Argonaut lineup. Meg Fountain also had a hit, a walk, and a stolen base in the effort.

The second inning saw Alabama Huntsville take the lead with a 3-RBI double by Baylee Darby, bringing home Alyssa Butts, Kylie Ballentine, and Keli Madden. After the second inning, the Chargers led 3-0.
 
 In the fourth inning, Kylee Smith extended their lead with a solo homer down the left-field line, making it 4-0. The Argonauts managed several hits, including singles from Abigail Pippen, but were unable to capitalize on these opportunities.
