2017 GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll

2017 (Jr.): Ran a season-best 26:40.58 at the GSC Championships, finishing 44th overall... Highest finish for the year came at the Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Alabama, when he placed 21st overall and helped UWF to a second-place finish as a team... Claimed top-50 finishes in 3 of 5 races for the year... Finished third for UWF at the Trevecca D2 Showcase.

2016 (So.): Ran a 28:21.70 at the Gulf Coast Stampede, which was good for an 8th-place finish... Claimed 11th place at the FSU Invitational, helping UWF pick up the team crown... Clocked a 34:58.9 in the 10K at the NCAA South Regional, improving his time by more than 4 minutes from last year.

2015 (Fr.): Helped lead the Argos to a third-place overall finish at the FSU Invitational.  Ran a season-best time of 27:14.50 in the 8,000-meter race placing third for UWF…Placed 53rd overall at the GSC Championship meet with a time of 27:48.33… Placed 78th overall at the NCAA DII South Regional Championship with a time of 39:18.59 in the 10,000-meter race.

High School: Member of the LaBelle High School cross country team that finished runner-up at the district meet in 2012 … Set a personal record in the 5000-meters (16:31.00) … Named cross country rookie of the year (2011), most improved (2012) and MVP (2013) … Set personal records for track in 800-meters (2:06), 1600-meters (4:39.23) and 3200-meters (9:53.01) … Also competed in powerlifting his freshman year.
 
Personal: Son of Pedro and Sanjuana Chairez … Has two sisters, Noe and Noemi and one brother, Andrew … Pre-nursing major … President of Allied Health Academy (2013-14) … Post-gradation plan is to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist … Enjoys running, fishing, swimming and drawing.
