Coach Jason Manary enters his second year at the University of West Florida as a Defensive Assistant Football Coach working with the Outside Linebackers/Stars. He brings more than a decade of collegiate coaching, recruiting, and player development experience across NCAA Division I, Division II, and California Junior College Football.

During his time at UWF, Coach Manary has played a role in the development of one of the nation’s most dominant defenses. Under his coaching support, the Argonauts produced six All-Conference players and ranked #1 in NCAA Division II in Run Defense and Tackles for Loss, #3 in Sacks, #3 in Third-Down Defense, and #1 overall in Total Defense nationally. He is actively involved in practice planning, film breakdown, scout team execution, run-game installation, and special teams support, while recruiting throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and the transfer portal.
Prior to UWF, Coach Manary served as Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach at Los Angeles Pierce College, where he oversaw all defensive operations, special teams, and national recruiting. He previously held the role of Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach at Los Angeles Valley College, leading a defense that ranked #2 Overall Defense among Southern California, Top 10 Nationally, while producing multiple All-Conference selections and the Team MVP.

Coach Manary’s coaching background also includes stops at Davenport University, where he helped coach the #1 Pass Defense in the GLIAC and ranked #8 nationally in NCAA Division II. He has also coached and worked at Moorpark College, Los Angeles Southwest College, and the University of Southern California. Across these programs, he has coached every defensive position group, coordinated recruiting operations, and helped develop dozens of student-athletes who advanced to Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA programs, including multiple All-Conference selections and the Defensive MVP at Davenport University.

A respected recruiter and evaluator of talent, Coach Manary has been directly involved in the signing and development of players nationally. He is known for building strong relationships with his players, as well as high school and junior college coaches with detailed film evaluation, and commitment to academic accountability and holistic student-athlete development.
Coach Manary holds a Master of Education from UCLA and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from American Public University. He is an active member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches (NCMFC). Beyond football, he has served for over a decade as a mentor for at-risk youth and remains deeply committed to leadership, discipline, and personal growth both on and off the field.

Coach Manary is married to Dr. LaShandra Batiste-Manary and is the father of two children, daughter Jaylen Manary and son Jayshaun Manary.
