Raheem Martin joined Tanner Smith’s staff at the University of West Florida as an assistant coach in July 2026.
In his role, Martin assists with all aspects of the men’s basketball program, including practice planning, player development, opponent scouting and game-plan preparation. He also plays an important role in recruiting prospective student-athletes, monitoring academic progress and mentoring members of the program.
Martin arrived at UWF after spending nearly four years at Appalachian State. He served as an assistant coach for the Mountaineers from October 2023 until his departure for West Florida, contributing to the program’s player development, scouting and game preparation efforts.
Before being elevated to assistant coach, Martin served as Appalachian State’s director of recruiting from 2022 to 2023 and helped coordinate the program’s recruiting operations. He previously worked at the University of Arkansas as the coordinator of student-athlete development in 2022 after serving as a graduate assistant for the Razorbacks from 2020 to 2022.
Martin began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Richard Bland College during the 2017–18 season. He later served as an assistant coach at Greensboro College from 2019 to 2020.
A 2016 graduate of Greensboro College, Martin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and was a four-year letterwinner for the Pride men’s basketball team. He was named the USA South Defensive Player of the Year following the 2013–14 season. Martin concluded his career with 85 blocks, ranking third in program history, and 116 steals, which ranked ninth on Greensboro’s career list.
A native of Mocksville, North Carolina, Martin is the brother of twins Cody and Caleb Martin, who played collegiately at Nevada under Eric Musselman before advancing to the NBA. Cody plays for the Indiana Pacers, while Caleb plays for the Dallas Mavericks.
