Raymond Brooks began working with the Facilities and Events staff at UWF in September 2021, where he handles all aspects of facility event setup and tear down for UWF Athletics events. He is responsible for ensuring seamless execution and optimal conditions for a wide range of sporting events. Brooks also acts as game day administrator and will serve as the tournament director for various Gulf South Conference and NCAA postseason events. He also manages all scheduling including practice times for visiting teams and handling various logistical needs for home events.
Brooks serves as a key liaison between officials, coaches, athletic and university stakeholders and event staff to ensure that all logistical requirements are met for all athletic events on campus.
Ensuring the safety and security of participants and spectators is a top priority for Raymond Brooks, who implements and monitors safety protocols for all home events. He also supervises game day personnel, providing direction and oversight to ensure the smooth operation of facilities and events.
Brooks also serves as an adjunct professor in UWF’s Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business Department of Commerce. He teaches Intro to Sport Management, helping young sport professionals learn entry level knowledge of sports organizations and operations including professional teams, intercollegiate athletics, community sport, recreational sport, sports facilities, national and international amateur sports organizations, and sports marketing and sponsorship.
Prior to Returning to UWF, Brooks has been an athletic operations coordinator and assistant basketball coach at Gaston College, and he was a graduate assistant for the Cleveland State men's basketball program from 2019-21, specializing in multimedia and on campus recruiting for the team.Â
Brooks also has a history in Pensacola and with UWF. He was the UWF men's basketball team's head student manager from 2016-19, supporting the coaching staff and preparing the team's facility and equipment needs. He was the team's head student manager during the 2017-18 campaign, when the Argonauts earned their first GSC Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.Â
Brooks is a member of National Organizations -Collegiate Event and Facilities Management Association (CEFMA) and Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), as well as Grow the Game, a networking and connection program for current and former basketball student managers.
Brooks earned an associate's degree from Pensacola State in 2016, a bachelor's degree in Education and Professional Studies: Sport Management with a minor in History from UWF in 2018, and a master's in Health and Human Performance: Sport Management from Cleveland State University in 2023.
