Vincent Jefferies Jr. joined the University of West Florida football staff in August 2026 as an assistant coach working with the wide receivers.
Before joining UWF, Jefferies joined the Tiffin University coaching staff in 2026 as the wide receivers coach. He came to Tiffin after spending the 2025 season at his alma mater, Florida A&M, where he served as the offensive passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.
At Florida A&M, Jefferies worked directly with the wide receivers and helped develop the Rattlers’ passing game. He also assisted with weekly passing plans and helped with third-down, red-zone and situational game planning.
Prior to returning to Florida A&M, Jefferies spent the 2024 season as the wide receivers coach at Western Illinois University. During his season with the Leathernecks, the wide receivers combined for more than 3,000 receiving yards.
Jefferies spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as an offensive graduate assistant. During his two seasons with the Fighting Illini, Illinois won 13 games and earned a spot in the 2022 ReliaQuest Bowl. The Illini reached as high as No. 14 in the AP Top 25 during the 2022 season and appeared in the College Football Playoff rankings for the first time in program history.
In 2023, Illinois receivers finished with 216 receptions for 3,175 yards and 23 touchdowns. Jefferies worked with wide receiver Isaiah Williams, who recorded 82 receptions for 1,055 yards and five touchdowns and finished 24th nationally in receiving yards.
Before Illinois, Jefferies spent the 2021 season at NC State as an offensive assistant. He began his coaching career at Garner Magnet High School in his hometown of Garner, North Carolina, where he served as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.
Jefferies played quarterback at Florida A&M during the 2016 and 2017 seasons after spending one season at Santa Rosa Junior College. At Santa Rosa, he threw for 1,920 yards and 12 touchdowns in 10 games. After his collegiate career, Jefferies participated in the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl, where he scored the game-winning touchdown.
Jefferies earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida A&M in 2017 with a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average. He was also named a semifinalist for the 2017 William V. Campbell Trophy.
