PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of West Florida men's soccer team will close out the regular season Friday, Oct. 31 at the UWF Soccer Complex. The Argonauts will host provisional Gulf South Conference member Spring Hill College (3-10, 2-6 GSC) at 7:30 p.m. CT.
In the spirit of Halloween, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host a Trunk or Treat event at the UWF Soccer Complexparking lot before the women's soccer match. Halloween costumes are encouraged and the event will kick-off at 5 p.m. CT.
West Florida falls to Delta State in overtime
The University of West Florida men's soccer team fell to Delta State University 1-2 in overtime Friday afternoon on the road. The Argonauts are now 5-7-2 (3-3-1 GSC) on the season and
Soren Yuhaschek (Orlando, Fla./Darton State College) scored the lone goal for the Argos.
West Florida got on the scoreboard first after Yuhaschek scored his first goal the season and was assisted by
Johnathan Quintero (Port Saint Lucie, Fla./Eastern Florida State College) in the 42nd minute. The Argos and Statesmen each tallied six shots in the half, while UWF's
Andre Moreira (Rio de Janiero, Brazil/Fresno Pacific) kept DSU scoreless with five saves in the half.
Delta State would tie the game in the second half from a goal by Sebastian Knabke in the 75th minute. The remaining second half would go scoreless and UWF and DSU would go to overtime to decide a victor.
However, the Statesmen would eventually score the game winning goal in overtime from a goal by Austin Jackman. UWF and DSU each had 10 shots in the match while UWF attempted fiver corner kicks to DSU's three.
UWF men's soccer falls to Mississippi College
The University of West Florida men's soccer team lost its last road match of the regular season Sunday afternoon, after falling to Mississippi College 1-0 in Clinton, Mississippi.
The Argonauts fall to 5-8-2 (3-4-1 GSC) on the season while the Choctaws improve their record to 10-5 (5-4 GSC).
Mississippi College scored the lone goal of the match in the 29th minute after Francisco DeAnda headed one in the back of the net. West Florida totaled 12 shots in the match, four on goal, and held MC to 10 shots, five on goal. Senior
Stuart McCrory (Prattville, Ala./Prattville HS) was in the net for the Argos while UWF was held scoreless for the seventh match of the season.
