PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida women's soccer team hosts Valdosta State for senior day on Halloween Friday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. before traveling to West Georgia Sunday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. ET.
In the spirit of Halloween, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host a Trunk or Treat event at the UWF Soccer Complex during the women's soccer match. Halloween costumes are encouraged.
Seniors
April Syme,
Taylor Harbison, and
Kelly Andres will be honored before Friday's match. The trio has a combined two All-American awards, four all-tournament honors, five all-conference honors and four all-academic honors.
GSC Tournament Seeding Scenarios
UWF currently ranks No. 4 in the Gulf South Conference standings among teams eligible for the postseason, but current No. 5 Christian Brothers holds the tiebreaker against UWF. The Nos. 3 and 4 seeds host GSC play-in games.
CBU is heavily favored in its GSC finale against Union Friday. UWF must defeat Valdosta State and West Georgia this weekend to clinch at least the No. 4 seed.
UWF could jump VSU with two wins and a VSU loss Sunday against West Alabama. UWF would jump UWA with a pair of wins and a UWA loss Sunday.
With a loss to VSU and a win at UWG, UWF would need a CBU loss to Union to remain in the top four. More possibilities emerge in the event of a tie in any of those games.
Argonauts ranked No. 7 in Region
UWF ranked No. 7 in the South Region in the first set of NCAA regional rankings.
The top six teams in the South Region advance to the postseason with the top two seeds receiving a first-round bye and hosting the first two rounds of the postseason.
The winners of the Gulf South Conference Tournament and Sunshine State Conference receive automatic bids, and four teams receive at-large bids based on the regional rankings.
