PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida women's basketball team hosts the Comfort Inn-vitational Thanksgiving Tournament Friday and Saturday Nov. 28-29 at the UWF Field House. This year's tournament features No. 20 Central Missouri (3-1), Arkansas-Monticello (2-2) and USC Aiken (2-2). UWF won the tournament last season with wins over Claflin in the first game and Southwest Baptist in the championship game.
The first game will be between UCM and USC Aiken Friday at noon and the second game will be between UWF and UAM Friday at 4 p.m.
The two winners will advance to play each other Saturday while the two losers will play a consolation game Saturday. UWF will play at 4 p.m. Saturday no matter what the result is Friday. The other game will be played a noon.
Argos sweep Spring Hill
UWF began the season with a home-and-away sweep of Spring Hilll. The Argos won the season opener Nov. 25 in Mobile, Ala. 57-53 and won their home opener Nov. 25 in Pensacola, Fla. 87-72.
In the first game, UWF led 28-15 at halftime but allowed SHC to come back. The game was tied 53-53 with 1:04 remaining before UWF scored four unanswered points for the win.
In the second game, UWF led 42-23 at the break and never relinquished the lead after that. SHC came within 10, down 70-60 at the 6:11 mark, but never came closer than that.
GSC Preseason News
UWF was picked to finish third in the Gulf South Conference in the preseason coaches' poll released Oct. 10. Delta State was picked to win the conference, and Union (Tenn.) was picked to finish second in its first year of Division-II postseason eligibility.

Courtney Meyer and Preston were named top newcomers to the GSC.
