HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The West Florida women's basketball team led Division I Southern Mississippi by one at halftime but was outscored by 10 in the second half in a 68-59 exhibition loss on the road Saturday afternoon.
Returning sophomore
Katie Bobos (Lowell, Ind./Lowell HS) and incoming freshman
Toni Brewer (Huntsville, Ala./Sparkman HS) led UWF with 13 points each.
UWF trailed 20-8 nine minutes into the game but was able to come back to lead 31-30 at the break. The Golden Eagles led by as much as 17 in the second half, up 60-43 with 7:12 remaining in regulation, but the Argonauts were able to cut the lead to nine before the end of the game.
A total of 11 Argos saw playing time in the exhibition.
UWF will open the season Nov. 22 at Spring Hill in Mobile, Ala. Nov. 22 at 5 p.m.
