CLINTON, Miss. - The West Florida women's basketball team hits the road to play its final two games in 2014. The Argonauts (7-1, 4-0 GSC) are the top team in the Gulf South Conference and look to remain undefeated in conference play at Mississippi College (5-3, 1-3) Dec. 18 and at Delta State (3-5, 1-3) Dec. 20.
UWF opened the season going 3-1 in non-conference play, before defeating Alabama Huntsville, North Alabama, Shorter and Lee to open conference play.
Leading the Conference
As a teamUWF leads the GSC in defensive and offensive rebounds per game, rebound margin, blocks per game, scoring defense, three-point field goal defense and win-loss percentage.
The Argos are in the top three in the GSC in field goal percentage defense, scoring margin and turnover margin.
IndividuallyUWF has three of the top five blockers in the conference.
Courtney Meyer ranks second,
Kelly Preston is fourth and
Jasmine Wigfall is fifth.
UWF has two of the top five rebounders.
Toni Brewer is fourth and
Katie Bobos is fifth.
Brianna Williams leads the GSC in steals per game.
UWF has four other players ranked in the top 10 in various categories.
In the Nation
UWF ranks in the top 30 in blocks, rebound margin and win-loss percentage in NCAA Division II.
The Argos are eighth in scoring defense and fifth in three-point field goal percentage defense.
Williams is 16th in the nation in steals per game.
