GAME NOTES: Argos open conference play at No. 15 UAH and UNA

UWF to play No. 15 UAH Dec. 4 and UNA Dec. 6

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of West Florida men's basketball team opens Gulf South Conference play this weekend by travelling to No. 15 Alabama Huntsville Dec. 4 and then North Alabama Dec. 6.

The Argonauts will take on the No. 15 Chargers (5-1, 0-0 GSC) at 7:30 p.m CT in Huntsville, Alabama just after a weekend that saw UAH go 2-1 against non-conference opponents.

UWF will then travel to Florence, Alabama to face the UNA Lions (3-3, 0-0 GSC) at 3 p.m. CT. The Lions are coming off a weekend where they went 0-2 in non-conference action.
Moore Off To Hot Start

University of West Florida men's basketball senior Demetrius Moore (Paxton, Fla./Indiana State University) is off to a hot start for the Argonauts and is currently leading the GSC in five statistical categories including field goal percentage (71.7), rebounds per game (10.3), and double-doubles (4).

Moore also ranks in the top ten in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (8.33) where he ranks eighth and double-doubles where he ranks fourth. Moore is also ranked 12th in the nation in field goal percentage, 16th in rebounds per game, and 17th in total rebounds (62).

Around the GSC

Gulf South Conference men's basketball teams combined for an 11-7 record in non-conference play last week, while five teams still remain undefeated so far on the season. Union is currently pacing the conference with a 6-0 overall record, followed by three 5-0 teams in No. 15 Alabama Huntsville (up 10 spots in latest NABC Poll), Lee and West Georgia. Mississippi College rounds out the list of unbeaten teams at 2-0.

The GSC men's basketball teams have combined for a 48-14 (.774) overall record so far, which leads all of NCAA Division II. The Sunshine State Conference is second with a 38-12 (.760) record, while the Northern Sun Conference is 57-23 (.713) to round out the Top 3.
