Looking to rebound
West Florida dropped a pair of razor-thin decisions last weekend when taking on the two top teams in the conference. West Florida was able to surmount a 2-0 deficit against Alabama Hunstville with 30 minutes remaining when Jorge Chirinios recorded two goals before the end of regulation. The Argos eventually fell in double-overtime to the first-place team last Friday as the Chargers converted on a penalty kick with just nine seconds remaining in the second overtime period. The following Sunday contest was scoreless until second place West Alabama scored the game-winning tally in the 86th minute. The two losses mark as the only time West Florida has lost consecutive games in 2015 and the four losses this season have all been by only a one-goal margin. UWF is 6-1 at home this season and since 1996, West Florida is 13-6-1 in contests following back-to-back setbacks.
The Argos look towards a favorable weekend schedule as well, as West Florida is a combined 12-3 all-time against Delta State and Mississippi College.
NCAA National Championships in Pensacola
For the third time in 10 years, UWF will host the NCAA Division II Soccer Championships at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola. The event will begin with semifinals for the men's and women's brackets on December 3, and national championship matches will be played on December 5.
