West Florida will honor senior class on Friday before match against North Alabama

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 22-ranked University of West Florida volleyball team will play host to a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents to wrap up the regular season at home this weekend. UWF will host North Alabama on Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. CT before facing Alabama Huntsville on Saturday, November 14 at 2 p.m. CT.

The 2015 UWF volleyball senior class will be honored before the match on Friday against North Alabama as Autumn Duyn and Colleen Starrs will be recognized for their contributions to the West Florida volleyball program.
 
West Florida currently holds a one-match lead over North Alabama and Valdosta State in the conference standings. UWF has already clinched a birth in the 2015 GSC Tournament and will be looking to host the tournament for the first time since 2013. The team with the best conference record at the end of the regular season will host the conference tournament.
 
WEST FLORIDA CONTROLS DESTINY TO HOST GSC TOURNAMENT
UWF currently holds a one-match lead in the Gulf South Conference regular season standings. If the Argos win the final two regular season games they will host the GSC Tournament for the first time since 2013. UWF has hosted the conference tournament five times in the past (2008, 2010-2013).
 
ARGOS HOLD AT NO. 5 IN LATEST REGIONAL RANKINGS
UWF held at No. 5 in the latest NCAA Division II Volleyball South Region rankings. West Florida has a 19-3 in-region record and is the highest ranked team out of the Gulf South Conference in the regional rankings.
 
The Sunshine State Conference, the Gulf South Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA DII South Regional Championship. Five at-large bids will be awarded based on the NCAA South Region Poll after the conference champions have been set.
 
The Gulf South Conference had three teams appear in the latest regional rankings, with North Alabama (18-5) coming in as the No. 6 seed and Valdosta State (19-5) earning the No. 7 seed.
 
UWF RANKS IN AVCA TOP 25 POLL FOR 10TH STRAIGHT WEEK
West Florida jumped one spot to No. 22 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll after going 3-0 against GSC opponents last week. UWF is the only team currently ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA DII Top 25 Coaches Poll from the GSC, and one of four teams representing the south region in the latest poll. This is the 10th consecutive week that the Argonauts have appeared in the top 25 poll.
 
MARTELLA EARNS SECOND GSC DEFENSIVE POW HONOR
Tori Martella was named GSC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Martella earned the weekly conference honor after tallying 60 digs last week in three matches. The junior averaged 6.00 digs per set and had an impressive 24-dig performance (8 digs per set) against Mississippi College. Martella currently ranks second in the GSC in digs per set (4.95).
 
STCYR EARNS SECOND GSC OFFENSIVE POW HONOR
Monique StCyr was named GSC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. StCyr earned the weekly conference honor after tallying 113 assists last week against three GSC opponents. The sophomore averaged 11.3 assists per set and also added six service aces and six kills last week. StCyr currently leads the GSC in service aces per set this season (0.50) and ranks second in assists per set (10.51).
 
DUYN RANKS IN TOP TWO IN CAREER KILLS AND DIGS
Duyn recently became the only player in UWF volleyball program history to be ranked in the top two in both career kills (1,325) and digs (1,456). She currently leads West Florida this season in kills (301) and kills per set (3.17) and ranks second on the team in digs (311) and digs per set (3.27).
