MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team fell to Christian Brothers University 70-52 in Memphis, Tennessee Thursday night. The Argonauts (7-17, 3-15 GSC) were led by sophomore
Deangelo Legrier (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS) who scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and tied a career high with five blocks.
"We played well the first half," said head coach
Bob Stinnett. "But after a few injuries, we struggled to get the ball up the court with a depleted roster."
It was a tale of two halves for the Argos as UWF outshot their opponent 41 percent (9-22) to 33 percent (11-33) and entered halftime with a two point deficit. However, the Bucs would go on in the second half to outscore West Florida 41-25 in the half to take the win over the Argos. CBU went on to shoot 56 percent (14-25) in the half and 43 percent (25-58) in the game.
West Florida only had two Argos score in double-digits throughout the game in Legrier and senior
Tyler Funk (Clarence, N.Y./Hillsborough CC) who scored 13 points and also grabbed eight rebounds.
The Argos will continue their road trip this weekend by traveling to Jackson, Tennessee to face Union (Tenn.) University on Feb. 14.
