VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 7-ranked University of West Florida women's tennis team defeated No. 9 Rollins 9-0 on the campus of Valdosta State University on Sunday afternoon. West Florida (3-1, 1-0 GSC) notches a regional victory en route to the teams third win of the regular season.
The No. 10-ranked doubles team of seniors
Laure-Eline Faure (Toulouse, France) and
Monika Kochanova (Bratislava, Slovakia) won at number one doubles by a score of 8-2.
Junior
Nina Bubelova (Pova'sk' Bystrica, Slovakia) and senior
Fernanda Amaral (Curitiba, Brazil) won at number two doubles 8-4 while junior
Katarina Dikosavljevic (Queensland, Australia) and senior
Francesca Fanchin (New York, N.Y.) won 8-3 at number three doubles.
No. 4 Kochanova defeated No. 27 Shannon Etten 4-6, 6-1, 10-2 at number one singles while Faure won 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles.
Dikosavljevic won at number three singles 6-4, 6-2 while Bubelova won 6-0, 6-0 at number four singles. Amaral won 6-4, 6-2 at number five singles while junior
Sarai Flores (Mexico City, Mexico) won 6-1, 6-3 at number six singles.
West Florida will next face No. 1 Barry on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. ET and No. 15 Valdosta State on Sunday, March 1 at 10 a.m. ET in Valdosta, Georgia.
