PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team wraps up the regular season on the road this weekend when they travel to Valdosta, Georgia to face the Valdosta State University Blazers.
The Argonauts (7-20 3-18 GSC) will face the Blazers (9-18, 4-17 GSC) Saturday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. ET at the UWF Field House. VSU is currently ninth in the Gulf South Conference standings. UWF previously played Valdosta State on Jan. 17 in Pensacola, Florida where the Argos fell to the Wolves 67-66 in a game that saw
Erin Straughn (Pensacola, Fla./East Carolina University) lead UWF with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Around the GSC
The final week of the regular season will finally decide the seedings going into March for the VisitSpaceCoast.Com GSC Basketball Tournament. As of today, only North Alabama has locked up a seed, No. 8.
The GSC tournament begins on "Super Tuesday", March 3, as the top four seeds will host quarterfinal games. The semifinals and final will be played at the Pete Hanna Center at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., with the semifinals set for Friday, March 6, and the championship game slated for Saturday, March 7.
The GSC paced the first NCAA South Region Rankings last week, placing six-of-10 teams with; No. 3 UWG, No. 4 UAH, No. 5 UU, No. 8 UWA, No. 9 CBU and No. 10 SU.

Bob Stinnett announced on Monday that he will retire at the end of the 2014-15 season. Stinnett, a UWF graduate and member of the school's athletics hall of fame, will finish his sixth season as head coach at the end of the year.
