PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida women's basketball team begins February, the final month of the regular season, with a tough test at home against Delta State Feb. 5. before looking to avenge a December loss against Mississippi College Feb. 7.
The last time UWF (14-5, 11-4) played DSU (12-7, 10-5), the perennial GSC power was 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference. The Argos downed the Lady Statesmen in a comeback that ended in overtime. Since then, DSU has gone 8-1 and travels to Pensacola, Fla. on a four-game winning streak. Second-place UWF is one game ahead of third-place DSU in the GSC standings.
It was a different story the last time MC (8-11, 4-11) and UWF met. UWF was undefeated in conference play when MC handed the Argos their first GSC loss of the season. The Argos missed a buzzer-beater to lose to the Choctaws who now sit at the bottom of the GSC standings.
