MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 7-ranked University of West Florida women's tennis team opened up the 2015 season by defeating NAIA No. 5-ranked Auburn Montgomery 5-4 on the road Friday afternoon.
 
UWF's No. 10-ranked doubles team of Monika Kochanova (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Laure-Eline Faure (Toulouse, France) defeated AUM's NAIA No. 8-ranked doubles team of Paula Diaz and Anna Rudolfova by a score of 8-2. Fernanda Amaral (Curitiba, Brazil) and Nina Bubelova (Pova'sk' Bystrica, Slovakia) defeated NAIA  No. 5-ranked doubles team of Alice Baudeigne and Claudine Maheu 8-6.
 
No. 4 Kochanova defeated NAIA No. 21-ranked Diaz 6-2, 6-2 at number one singles. Bubelova defeated NAIA No. 28-ranked Maheau 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 at number four singles while Amaral won 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at number five singles.
 
West Florida will next face Gulf South Conference opponent North Alabama in the team's home opener on Sunday, February 15 at 10 a.m. CT.
