No. 8 UWF women's tennis sweeps two opponents on Saturday

West Florida improves to 10-0 in matches against south region opponents

FLORIDA SOUTHERN RESULTS
WEST GEORGIA RESULTS

PENSACOLA, Fla. –
The No. 8-ranked University of West Florida women's tennis team swept Florida Southern and West Georgia at home on Saturday afternoon at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. West Florida (15-3, 7-0 GSC) improves to 10-0 in matches against south region opponents and remains unbeaten in Gulf South Conference play.
 
No. 8 West Florida 9, Florida Southern 0
 
West Florida's No. 16-ranked doubles team of seniors Laure-Eline Faure (Toulouse, France) and Monika Kochanova (Bratislava, Slovakia) won at number one doubles 8-0 while junior Katarina Dikosavljevic (Queensland, Australia) and sophomore Lisa May (Oviedo, Fla.) won 8-6 at number two doubles.
 
Senior Francesca Fanchin (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Heather May Walton (Winter Park, Fla.) won 8-1 at number three doubles.
 
Faure defeated No. 36 Magda Riutort 6-1, 6-2 at number one singles and improves to 3-2 against nationally ranked opponents while junior Nina Bubelova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia) won 6-1, 6-2 at number two singles.
 
Senior Fernanda Amaral (Curitiba, Brazil) won 6-3, 6-0 at number three singles while junior Sarai Flores (Mexico City, Mexico) won 6-2, 6-1 at number four singles.
 
Freshman Erica Lilja Eriksson (Kristinehamn, Sweden) won 6-1, 7-5 at number five singles while sophomore Lisa May (Oviedo, Fla.) won 6-1, 6-2 at number six singles.
 
No. 8 West Florida 9, West Georgia 0
 
No. 16 Faure and Kochanova won 8-0 at number one doubles while Bubelova and Faure won at number two doubles by a score of 8-0. Fanchin and Walton won 8-0 as well at number three doubles.
 
Flores won 6-2, 6-1 at number one singles while Walton won at number two singles by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Fanchin won 6-0, 6-1 at number three singles while Giovanna Patitucci (Sao Paulo, Brazil) won 6-0, 6-1 at number four singles.
 
Gabriela Fernandez (Guatemala City, Guatemala) won 6-3, 6-4 at number five singles while May won 6-0, 6-2 at number six singles.
 
West Florida will wrap up the weekend by facing Delta State on Sunday, March 29 at 9 a.m. CT before facing Christian Brothers later that day at 1 p.m. CT.
