No. 8 UWF women's tennis team sweeps two GSC opponents on Sunday

PENSACOLA, Fla. –
The No. 8-ranked University of West Florida women's tennis team swept a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on Sunday. West Florida (17-3, 9-0 GSC) defeated Delta State 6-0 before beating Christian Brothers 9-0.

The No. 16-ranked doubles team of seniors Laure-Eline Faure (Toulouse, France) and Monika Kochanova (Bratislava, Slovakia) won 8-0 at number one doubles while junior Katarina Dikosavljevic (Queensland, Australia) and sophomore Lisa May (Oviedo, Fla.) won their fourth straight match 8-4 at number two doubles.
 
Juniors Giovana Patitucci (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Sarai Flores (Mexico City, Mexico) won 8-0 at number three doubles.
 
Flores won 6-1, 6-1 at number four singles while May won her 15th career singles match 6-0, 6-1 at number five singles. Patitucci won her 25th career singles match at number six singles by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

Junior Nina Bubelova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia) and senior Fernanda Amaral (Curitiba, Brazil) won 8-0 at number one doubles while senior Francesca Fanchin (New York, N.Y.) and junior Heather May Walton (Winter Park, Fla.) won their fifth straight match at number two doubles by a score of 8-0.
 
Junior Gabriela Fernandez (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and freshman Erica Lilja Eriksson (Kristinehamn, Sweden) won 8-0 at number three doubles.
 
Bubelova won 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles while Amaral won at number two singles 6-2, 6-2. Fanchin won 6-2, 6-1 at number three singles while Walton won 6-0, 6-1.
 
Eriksson won 6-0, 6-0 at number five singles while Fernandez won at number six singles 6-1, 6-1.
 
West Florida will next face No. 7 Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday, April 1 at 1 p.m. CT before facing No. 26 Concordia (N.Y.) on Thursday, April 2 at 1:30 p.m. CT. UWF will then face Mississippi College on Saturday, April 4 at 9 a.m. CT before facing Georgia Gwinnett at 3 p.m. CT later that day.
