LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Florida baseball team was eliminated from the Gulf South Conference Tournament after a 4-3 loss to top-seeded West Alabama Sunday afternoon at Tartt Field in Livingston, Ala.
The Argonauts led 3-0 heading to the ninth inning but surrendered four runs in the top of the inning and were unable to rally in the bottom half.
Walker O'Connor (Bedford, Mass./Malden Catholic HS) pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just five hits to extend his scoreless inning streak to 23 before allowing four runs on four hits in the ninth.
Ronnie May (Apopka, Fla./Apopka HS) came on in relief with a 4-3 lead in the ninth but was unable to close out the game before allowing the go-ahead run to score.

Chase Kiefer (Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola Catholic HS) gave UWF a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the third. He drove in one more in the seventh with an RBI single, and
Sean Plunkett (Ocala, Fla./College of Central Florida) gave UWF a 3-0 lead with an RBI single in the eighth.
UWF finishes the season 31-17 overall and 21-1 in Gulf South Conference play. The Argos were the No. 4 seed entering the tournament.
