Bethell named GSC Freshman of the Week
Kameron Bethell received the honor of Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the GSC.
Bethell played a pivotal role in helping UWF secure a 2-1 win over Tampa on September 5th, scoring the game-tying goal in the 49th minute. Bethell took a misplayed clear attempt by a Spartan defender and buried the shot past the Tampa goalkeeper and into the bottom left corner of the net.  Bethell also played 32 minutes in the game against Southern Nazarene.

Argos pull off comeback victory on Opening Night
The Argonauts got off to a thrilling start in a 2-1 victory over Tampa on opening night, coming back from a 1-0 deficit at halftime to beat the Spartans for the first time since 2007. During that 2007 season, West Florida reached the NCAA South Region Semifinals and went 18-2 overall.

In addition to Bethell's goal, Felipe Oliveira sealed the win with a 58th minute tally. Andre Moreira stopped eight of nine Spartans shots in route to his first victory of the 2015 season. After an early goal, Moreira made eight consecutive saves without conceding a goal, including five in the second half.

UWF shuts down Southern Nazarene on Labor Day
West Florida dominated Southern Nazarene in all aspects of the game in its Labor Day contest, beating the Crimson Storm 2-0. West Florida outshot Southern Nazarene 22-6, while completely shutting down the Crimson Storm offensive attack in the second half, not allowing them to get off a shot in the final 45 minutes. Soren Yuhaschek netted the first goal of the game off a feed from Marteinn Urbancic, with Stephen Enderlin scoring his first career goal with the assist coming from Tristian Rehrig later in the match. Jacob Murray posted a shutout in his first game in net as a member of the Argos.

Sunshine State Conference opponents on deck
West Florida heads to south for a couple of games against Rollins and Florida Southern. Both Rollins and Florida Southern are looking for its first wins of the season, as both teams own a 0-2 record as of September 10.

UWF played a 2014 No.3 ranked Rollins tough a season ago, dropping a close 1-0 contest. For Sunday's matchup, the Argonauts are 11-5-1 all-time against Florida Southern.
