Box Score September 13, 2015BOX SCORETAMPA, Fla. – The University of West Florida women's soccer team fell to Tampa 2-1 on Sunday for its first loss of the season. With the loss, UWF now holds a record of 3-1.
UWF and Tampa held each other scoreless in the first half, with the Argonauts putting up five shots to Tampa's four.
Kaley Ward (Saint Cloud, Fla./Tampa) and
Daryl Bell (Sarasota, Fla./Southeast HS) each took two shots in the half.
West Florida fell behind when Tampa struck with the first goal of the game in the 47
th minute, and the Spartans held the lead until the 79
th minute when Ward picked up her fifth goal of the season.
Sara Helgadottir (Grindav'k, Iceland/Menntask'linn ' K'pavogi) and
Alisa Festagallo (Fort Pierce, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy) were each credited with their first assists of the year on the play.
Tampa would take the lead back in the 85
th minute, and UWF would not find the back of the net to even the score. Ward, a University of Tampa transfer, leads UWF with five goals and 10 points through the team's first four games. West Florida outshot Tampa 14-13 and equaled the Spartans' six shots on goal.
UWF will play next against Spring Hill in Mobile, Alabama, on Saturday, September 19, at 1 p.m.
