Kaley Ward (Saint Cloud, Fla./Tampa) has been named the Gulf South Conference women's soccer Player of the Week by the GSC. Ward is the team's first GSC Player of the Week since
Sara Helgadottir (Grindav'k, Iceland/Menntask'linn ' K'pavogi) won the award in September 2014.
Ward totaled four goals over the weekend for UWF, including three on Friday against No. 1 Rollins. It was the first hat trick for UWF since Helgadottir accomplished the feat in 2013. Ward also picked up a goal in UWF's Sunday game against Tampa, a 2-1 loss.
Ward currently ranks ninth in all of Division II and second in the GSC with five goals, and she ranks 14
th in the country averaging 1.25 goals per game. Her five goals and 10 points also lead UWF.
UWF will visit Spring Hill on Saturday, September 18, for its conference-opener at 1 p.m.
