Match Notes: Week 4 PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 20-ranked University of West Florida volleyball team will face a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents on the road this weekend. West Florida (9-2, 2-0 GSC) will face Lee on Friday, September 25 at 6 p.m. ET in Cleveland, Tennessee, before facing Shorter on Saturday, September 26 at 1 p.m. ET in Rome, Georgia. West Florida will also face GSC opponent Mississippi College on Tuesday, September 29 at 6 p.m. CT.
WOLTER EARNS 300 WINS AT UWFHead coach
Melissa Wolter tallied her 300th win as head coach at UWF as the No. 20-ranked UWF volleyball team defeated West Georgia 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-17) on Saturday. Wolter earned her 300th career win during the 2013 season, and has a 336-157 career record between UWF and Wisconsin-Parkside. She has the second most Division II wins among active head coach in the Gulf South Conference and has the highest winning percentage among active head coaches in the GSC.
ARGOS REMAIN AT NO. 20 AVCA DII TOP 25 COACHES POLLUWF remained No. 20 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll after going 3-0 over the past weekend. West Florida improved to 9-2 overall on the year with 3-0 wins over GSC opponents West Alabama and West Georgia and south region opponent Spring Hill. UWF is the only team currently ranked in the AVCA DII Top 25 Coaches Poll from the GSC, and one of four teams representing the south region in the latest poll.
DUYN LEADING UWF IN SENIOR SEASONAutumn Duyn currently ranks fourth in the GSC in kills per set (3.56) and has tallied 128 kills this season. Duyn ranks fourth in career kills at West Florida (1,152), just 139 kills behind her former teammate Lindsey Homme (2009-13). Duyn also ranks 19th among all active NCAA DII student-athletes in career kills. The Venice, Florida native also ranks third in career digs (1,266) at UWF and needs 18 digs to take sole possesion of second on the career digs list.
MARTELLA STARTING TO DIG INTO HISTORYJunior
Tori Martella currently ranks first the GSC in digs per set (5.18) and leads the Argonauts with 176 digs this season. Martella ranks eighth in career digs at West Florida (851) and needs 63 digs to move into seventh place on the career digs list.
TORRE RANKS HIGH IN GSC STATSUWF redshirt junior
Kathryn Torre currently ranks third in the Gulf South Conference in blocks per set (1.00) and fourth in attacking percentage (.327) in her first year of competition for UWF. Torre tallied a season-high nine blocks in the win over then No. 21 Arkansas Ft. Smith and tallied a season-high 10 kills in the win over Missouri St. Louis at the 2015 Hampton Inn-vitational.
