PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 15-ranked University of West Florida men's soccer team continues Gulf South Conference play this weekend at the UWF Soccer Complex. UWF started GSC play last week, where it dropped a 2-1 decision to Union on Friday before besting GSC preseason favorite Christian Brothers 4-1 on Sunday. West Florida will battle the Lee University Flames on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. with a contest against the Shorter University Hawks on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. following. The Argonauts are 6-1 on the season and sit at 1-1 in Gulf South Conference play.

Scoring leaders

Scoring contributions have come from many different avenues so far this season, as the 16 Argonauts goals have come from eight different goal scorers. Freshman Stephen Enderlin (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic High School for Boys) leads the team in goals, with four, while senior Felipe Oliveira (Kissimmee, Fla./Gateway HS) leads the team in assists with three. Enderlin's four goals on the season currently stands as the most among all GSC freshmen. Junior Marteinn Urbancic (Reykjavik, Iceland/Commercial College of Iceland) shares the team lead in points with Enderlin, having eight points come from three goals and two assists on the season. Kameron Bethell (Navarre, Fla./Navarre HS) has tallied three goals and an assist thus far in his freshman campaign.

Top defenders in Gulf South Conference

With only seven goals allowed this season, the backline for West Florida currently ranks as the best among GSC teams. Goalkeepers Andre Moreira (Rio de Janiero, Brazil/Colegio de A a Z) and Jacob Murray (West Palm Beach, Fla./Seminole Ridge HS) have split time in net through the team's first seven games.

Moreira currently stands at 3-1 on the season, posting a .750 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average, while collecting 18 saves on the year. Murray owns a perfect record of 3-0, also posting a .750 save percentage and a goals against average of 0.32. Moreira posted a shutout against Mobile on September 21st, while Murray has totaled two shutouts in 2015.

Defenders Japhet Bitsindou (Fontenay sous bois, France/Ecole des Merlus), Allan Kuhne (Honolulu, Hawaii/Boca Raton Community HS), Soren Yuhaschek (Orlando, Fla./Freedom HS), and Michael Starkey (Huddersfield, England/Newsome HS) lead the team in minutes played and have led the Argos to averaging only one goal allowed per game, a statistic that currently is tied for the best in the GSC.

Argos rank No. 15 nationally

UWF men's soccer team moved to No. 15 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll on Tuesday, jumping two spots from last week's No. 17 position. West Florida debuted in this year's top 25 on September 15th, being ranked No. 25. The Argonauts currently stand as the only GSC team among the top 25, as previously No. 10 ranked Christian Brothers fell off the rankings after its 4-1 defeat to West Florida.

Scouting Lee

The Lee University Flames currently stand at 5-2-1 on the season, most recently playing to a scoreless draw against Bryan College on Thursday. David Perez leads the Flames' offense with seven goals and three assists, good for the second most points in the GSC and third most goals. Tom Halsall has played nearly all the minutes in the Flames net, posting a 5-2-1 record with a 1.59 goals against average and a .745 save percentage. West Florida is 2-0-3 all-time against Lee and in its last meeting, the teams battled to a scoreless tie on October 3rd, 2014 in Cleveland, Mississippi.
