BOX SCORE FLORENCE, Ala. – The No. 6-ranked University of West Florida women's tennis team defeated North Alabama 8-1 on the road Saturday afternoon. West Florida (3-0, 2-0 GSC) swept the singles competition and took two of the three doubles matches en route to the conference victory.
Senior
Nina Bubelova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia) and junior
Paula Lopez (Tucumán, Argentina) swept Avery King and Nele Seitz 8-0 at number two doubles while freshman
Valeria Mantilla (Bogotá, Colombia) and senior
Giovana Patitucci (Sao Paulo, Brazil) swept Claudia Arroyo and Claire DeGeorge 8-0 at number three doubles.
Junior
Hannah Toro (London, England) and freshman
Dianna Vlad (Oberhausen, Germany) fell to UNA's Olivera Ngouabeu and Donna Haycock 6-8 at number one doubles.
Lopez defeated Ngouabeu 6-2, 6-3 at number one singles while Vlad defeated Haycock at number two singles by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
No. 42 Bubelova won at number three singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Arroyo while senior
Sarai Flores (Mexico City, Mexico) defeated King 6-2, 6-3 at number four singles.
Freshman
Heather Mixon (New Iberia, La./Catholic HS) rebounded from a first-set loss to defeated Seitz 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 at number five singles while Mantilla defeated DeGeorge 7-5, 6-0 at number six singles.
West Florida will wrap up the weekend tomorrow in Huntsville, Alabama, with a match against Alabama Huntsville at 1 p.m.
