Game NotesUWF Notes (pdf)

* This is the 36th season of West Florida women's basketball. UWF has an all-time record of 499-461 (.518) in 959 games. UWF is 180-145 (.554) in 21 seasons of Gulf South Conference play. The Argonauts have made four NCAA Tournament appearances, including each of the last two seasons. UWF won its first-ever GSC Championship two years ago.

ABOUT UWF

* Fourth-year head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton has four starters and eight letterwinners back from last year's 20-win squad that finished second in the GSC regular season.
* UWF ranks third in the GSC in scoring offense (65.8 ppg) and seventh in scoring defense (62.3) on the year.
* Katie Bobos, Toni Brewer and Alex Coyne rank in the top 20 in the GSC in scoring, as UWF and Union are the only teams in the league with three of the conference's top 20 scorers.
* Bobos leads the squad on the glass with 8.3 rpg, followed by Brewer with 8.0. Courtney Meyer is just behind Brewer, with 7.7 rpg and Kelly Preston has averaged 6.7. UWF is the only team in the GSC with three - not to mention four - of the top seven rebounders in the conference. The Argos are second in the GSC in rebounds (40.9 rpg) and third in rebound margin (6.9).
* UWF leads in the GSC with 4.1 blocks per game, while Alex Coyne leads the conference and ranks fourth in Division II with 6.9 apg.
* The UWF defense has been a key to the team's success, as the Argos have gone 12-0 when holding opponents to 60 points or fewer, including six times during their 7-game win streak and three in a row.

IT'S CROWDED AT THE TOP
* With three games remaining in the regular season, UWF currently sits tied with Lee for fourth place in the conference at 13-6. Delta State and Shorter are a game ahead at 14-5. Union clinched the No. 1 seed with a 17-2 mark and is on a league-best 12-game win streak.
* All five teams have already clinched a spot in the 8-team GSC Tournament. UWF could finish anywhere from second to fifth, but does hold tiebreakers over Delta, Lee and Shorter.

WIN NUMBER 500 ON THE HORIZON

* UWF hopes to earn the 500th win in program history on Thursday, after clinching No. 499 against Christian Brothers last Thursday.
* The Argos have won 324 of those games since joining the Gulf South Conference in the 1994-95 season, a total that trails just six teams in conference history. UWF is one of just four teams to put up a perfect conference record (14-0 in 1998-99) in a season since joining the GSC.
* Shannan Bergen (183) and Kathy Davis (175) have earned the lion's share of those 499 wins. Davis was the team's inaugural coach in 1981, and her tenure ran through the 1993-94 campaign.
* West Florida has won 20 games five times: 1997-98, 98-99, 2003-04, 05-06 and last season, 2014-15.
* The Argonauts have posted 17 winning seasons.

ABOUT WEST GEORGIA

* UWG is 6-19 overall and 6-13 in GSC play, putting the Wolves in ninth place. They are a game back of eighth and two back of seventh with three games to play.
* The Wolves are 4-7 at home this season and have won their last three.
* Katrina Littlepage leads the UWG attack with a GSC-best 19.3 points per game and is shooting 39 percent from the floor. Freshman Terriana Cave is adding 10.7 ppg after posting double figures in the last 11 contests and 14 of 15.

SERIES HISTORY VS. UWG
* UWF leads the all-time series 22-19. The Argos are 5-4 since 2012. West Georgia won seven-consecutive contests from 2008-11. Prior to that streak, UWF won seven of nine from 2005-07.
* LAST MEETING: UWF capped off its 7-game win streak with a 61-57 win over UWG six weeks ago in Pensacola. Toni Brewer scored a team-best 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. The Argos dominated the boards, outrebounding the Wolves, 45-30, and picking up 15 offensive rebounds that led to 12 points. UWG took a one-point lead with 2:03 left in the game, but freshman Belle Bistrow's baseline jumper with 1:50 remaining turned out to be the game-winner for UWF. Bistrow's shot gave UWF a 58-57 lead, and free throws from Kelly Preston and Katie Bobos cemented the UWF win. Bistrow and Bobos each scored 12 points, with Bistrow going 5-10 from the field and 2-5 from beyond the arc.
