Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The UWF women's tennis team continued to prove its top seed with a 5-0 victory over Alabama Huntsville in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Championship at the O'Connor Tennis Center at Lagoon Park Friday.

The win allowed UWF (21-5) to advance into Saturday's championship match against second-seeded Valdosta State (12-7) at 11:00 a.m.

UWF claimed the three doubles matches to move on to a 3-0 lead. The Argonauts clinched the match with straight-set decisions at the middle singles spots from Sarai Flores and Dianna Vlad.

"Huntsville was playing pretty well and the last time we didn't play in doubles so it was nice to get through that part of the match with the three points," UWF head coach Derrick Racine said.

The Argonauts and Blazers are meeting in the title match for the 13th time in the last 22 years.
