PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 6 ranked UWF women's tennis team dropped a 8-1 decision to No. 4 Armstrong State at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex Friday.
Â
The loss drops UWF to 18-4 overall and is just its second in 13 home contests this season. ASU improved to 20-1
Â
The Pirates opened the doubles portion of the match with wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots. UWF's lone point came at the top position where
Paula Lopez and
Nina Bubelova defeated the nation's third-ranked duo in Lena Lutzeier and Diana Stomlega, 8-6.
Â
Unfortunately for the Argonauts, that would be the lone victory of the day as all six singles matches were straight-set decisions in Armstrong's favor.
Â
The Argonauts don't have much time to dwell on the loss, as they will play twice on Saturday to conclude the regular-season. UWF will face No. 9 Hawai'I Pacific at 9:00 a.m. and NAIA No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett at 3:00 p.m. Both matches are free to attend and will be at the Carson Tennis Complex.
