PENSACOLA, Fla.  –  The University of West Florida men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision against a strong Missouri S&T squad to open the home schedule at the UWF Soccer Complex.

The teams battled scoreless for the first 23 minutes, which included a highlight-reel save from freshman goalkeeper Phil D'Amico in the 22nd minute. Missouri S&T ended the scoreless tie in the 24th minute with Felipe Andrade's second goal of the season.

As the teams were about to head into the halftime break, the Miners added some insurance to its lead with a minute remaining in the half via a goal from Will McIntyre from 12 yards out.

The 2-0 lead did not keep the Miners from pressing offensively in the second half, and eventually the Miners converted on its third goal of the game in the 76th minute with Andrade's second goal of the game to make the score 3-0.

Missouri S&T goalkeeper Aaron Hohenstein stopped all four shots on goal the Argonauts posted. Marteinn Urbancic, Gavin Gillies, Isaiah Lopez and Tristan Rehrig all contributed one shot on goal each.

D'Amico stopped two Miner shots in the setback and moves to 0-2 on the season in net.

UWF outshot the Miners, 15-14, but lost the battle in shots on goal with the Miners posting five in comparison to UWF's four. The Argos received nine corner kick opportunities and limited the Miners to just three.

West Florida men's soccer resumes action on Friday, against a 1-1 Rollins team who entered the 2016 ranked No. 17 in the nation. UWF-Rollins first whistle is set for 7:30 p.m. CT from the UWF Soccer Complex.
