PENSACOLA, Fla. –
The UWF men's basketball team recorded its fifth win in its last six games after topping Mississippi College 92-72 on Thursday afternoon.

UWF had four scorers in double figures and had 48 total points come off the bench in the victory. Marvin Jones led UWF with 16 points. Jason Laatsch notched an impressive stat line with 15 points and a game-high seven assists, while Deangelo Legrier recorded 15 points with eight rebounds. Darryl Tucker led all players in the game with 12 rebounds.

West Florida shot 52.2% while going 44% from three-point distance. It is fourth time in the last six games UWF has scored at least 90 points.

UWF outrebounded Mississippi College 43-33. The Argos also topped MC in points off turnovers (25-6), second-chance points (14-3) and points in the paint (42-36).

The Argos faced an 8-4 deficit to start the contest, but rattled off an 11-0 run to gain a 17-8 lead. UWF never looked back after that point, and collected a lead as large as 28 during the second half.

UWF had five players with at least six points in the second half, including Moter Deng, who poured in a season-high 10 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting night. Other key performances off the bench include Henri Ventoniemi, who scored seven points in eight minutes of action, and Mario Stramaglia who scored nine points on 3-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

Stramaglia is now 10 three-point field goals shy of the program's career record of 128. Right behind Stramaglia is Laatsch, who is now 16 treys away from the program's current record after going 4-for-7 from long range against the Choctaws. It is only the second time in school history that the UWF roster has featured a pair of players with at least 100 career three-pointers.

It is the first time UWF has won five games in a stretch of six games against GSC opponents since the end of the 2011-12 season.

West Florida now awaits one of its toughest contests of the season as it hosts No. 24 Delta State on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
