* Fifth-year head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton has four starters and eight letterwinners back from last year's 17-10 squad that finished tied for third in the GSC regular season at 15-7.
* Yelton is 71-53 at UWF and 128-137 in 9-plus years as a college head coach, which includes a 57-84 mark in at Charleston Southern from 2001-06 ... She is a 1996 North Carolina graduate who was the school's all-time leader in every 3-point category at the end of her career.

QUITE A START
* UWF's 9-2 start through 11 games is tied for the second-best mark after as many games in school history ... The 1997-98 squad opened 10-1 before finishing with a 25-5 mark overall ... This season's 5-0 start marked the first such start for the first time since a 6-0 beginning in 1996-97.

BALANCED SCORING FOR THE ARGOS
* UWF has had a balanced scoring output all season, putting at least four players in double figures in 10 of 11 games ... * Shorter is 4-6 on the season but has gone 4-2 after opening with four-consecutive losses ... The Hawks are 3-2 at home and have won their last three games.

BREWER ON A TEAR EARLY ON
* Junior F Toni Brewer has averaged 15.5 points (5th in GSC) and 13.2 rebounds (1st in NCAA) with 10 double-doubles (2nd in NCAA) in the first 11 contests ... She ranks fifth in the GSC with a 45% FG pct. ... She pulled down a career-high 23 rebounds at Montevallo on Nov. 19 in the third game of the year ... that marked the most in either Division I or II at the time (since has dropped to No. 4 in D2), the second-most in UWF history and the 13th-most in GSC history ... She enters the Shorter game with 838 points and 612 rebounds in her career.

BOBOS REACHES 1,000 POINTS & NEARS UWF REBOUNDING RECORD
* Senior F Katie Bobos has been as consistent a performer as anyone in school history, entering the Shorter game with 1042 points and 730 rebounds ... The Lowell, Ind. native has eight games in double figures this year which includes her career-high 21 points against St. Mary's ... She became just the tenth player in program history to surpass 1,000 points when she reached the milestone at Union just before the holiday break ... She is just the second player in school history to go over 700 rebounds and is just 69 away from setting the school record.

COYNE AS STEADY AS EVER
* Senior PG Alex Coyne has continued her impressive play since arriving at UWF last year ... She is currently averaging 11.0 points, 6.0 assists and 2.9 rebounds per outing ... Her 6.0 apg rank 14th in the NCAA ... After being credited with six total assists in the first two games, she has handed out at least seven helpers in six of the last nine games, including two with nine and one with 10 ... She enters the weekend with 248 assists in her two years at UWF, good for 9th in school history..

MULMORE AMONG THE TOP TRUE FRESHMAN IN THE GSC
* Freshman G Imani Mulmore has made quite an impact on her new team, ranking fourth on the team in scoring and 25th in the GSC with 10.9 points, while ranking fourth on the team with 3.2 rebounds per game ... She has six games in double figures with three of at least 16 points ... Her attacking style has allowed the New Orleans native to shoot 42-for-64 (.656) at the free throw line.

ROAD SUCCESS OVER THE LAST THREE SEASONS
* UWF has gone 19-10 in regular-season road games the past three seasons - 8-4 in 2014-15, 8-5 in 2015-16 and 3-1 this season ... The Argos had their three-game road win streak snapped at Union prior to a win at Christian Brothers just prior to the NCAA's Division II winter break.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE OFFSEASON
* Former assistant coach Jessie Ivey was named the National Division 2 Assistant Coach of the Year by the WBCA, before accepting a similar position at Bowling Green ... UWF hired former WNBA veteran LaQuanda Quick as her replacement. Quick spent last season at Winston Salem State and has been put in charge of the Argonaut defense ... UWF took a foreign tour to the Dominican Republic from Aug. 11-18. The squad played four games, visited local sugarcane villages, orphanages and women's shelters while ministering and sharing the love of basketball.

UWF PICKED 3RD IN GSC PRESEASON POLL
* The UWF women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Gulf South Conference preseason coaches poll ... UWF earned a total of 101 points in the voting process, collecting one first place vote, a league-high five second-place votes, one third, three fourth and a fifth place vote.
* Defending regular-season champion Union was picked first, followed by Delta State, which won the GSC Tournament title. Lee followed UWF in fourth, and Shorter was picked fifth.
* Seniors Katie Bobos and Alex Coyne were each named to the 5-member preseason all-conference team ... Bobos was a second-team all-GSC and academic all-GSC honoree last year after averaging 12.8 points and 8.0 rebounds. The Lowell, Indiana native scored in double figures in 21 games and collected eight double-doubles ... Coyne was also a second team choice a year ago after transferring from Southern Miss. In her first season with the Argos, the point guard from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania averaged 10.0 points, 6.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. She led the GSC and ranked fifth in the NCAA in assists, and was third in GSC and 49th nationally in steals.
