UWF Fall Short At Saint Leo

Last minute goal tops Argonauts

SAINT LEO, Fla. - The University of West Florida men's soccer traveled to Saint Leo University on Sunday. Saint Leo slipped by UWF in the last moments of the match with a goal from Tyler Palmer.

Ed Chappe almost gave UWF the lead in the 13th minute with a well placed free kick forcing a good save from Saint Leo goalkeeper Conor McElhinney.

In the 56th minute Sergio Otalora would test Conor McElhinney again to force another save from the Saint Leo goalkeeper.

Erick Rivera hit the woodwork in the 66th minute banging a header off of the crossbar coming close to putting UWF up by a goal.

Saint Leo would break the deadlock with just one minute left in regulation by a goal from Tyler Palmer.

Saint Leo had ten shots with just two on goal. UWF had eight shots with three on goal. Goalkeeper Jacob Murray recorded one save.

The Argonauts move to an overall record of 3-5.

UWF will go on the road next against GSC opponent Shorter University on Friday at 6:30pm.
