THE COACHES
* UWF coach Pete Shinnick 
was hired as the first coach in program history on Feb. 6, 2014. He has a 112-54 career record in 15-plus years, which includes a 50-24 mark at UNC Pembroke from 2007-13 and 53-22 at Azusa Pacific from 1999-05.
* Shorter Coach Aaron Kelton: Kelton is in his second season at Shorter and has an 0-18 record. He is the second head coach in the Hawks' 11-year history, taking over from Phil Jones, who started the program in 2005. Kelton came to Shorter after serving as the head coach at Division III Williams College (Mass.) from 2010-2015, where he posted a 23-25 record

ABOUT UWF
    UWF saw its two game win streak snapped with a tough 28-25 loss to #20 Delta State. The Argonauts are 4-2 on the season and 2-2 in Gulf South Conference play.
    Sophomore running back Chris Schwarz continues to improve and leads the team with 332 rushing yards, including career-highat FIT and vs. Mississippi College. After a 75-yard performance at Florida Tech, he carried the ball 15 times for 83 yards - a 5.5 yards per carry average - and a touchdown against the Choctaws. UWF is averaging 100.2 rushing yards per game.
    The Argos are averaging 224 yards per game passing with eight touchdowns. Redshirt freshman Mike Beaudry has completed 50 percent of his pass attempts following a career-high 354 yards passing last week.
    Senior linebacker Reggie Barnes continues to lead the team with 49 total tackles, a figure that is tied for fourth in the GSC. Graduate student Josh Marshall has 47 tackles and a pair of interceptions, while junior Marvin Conley has 46 tackles and sophomore Josh Smiley has 44 stops. Sophomore Andre Duncombe has two interceptions after one each against FIT and MC.
    Smiley, John Williamson and Stephen Matthews have three sacks apiece to lead the team.

ABOUT SHORTER
    Shorter is 0-7 on the season and has lost its last 24 games. The Hawks have been shutout in two of their last three games and are averaging just 9.4 points per game this season. They are allowing 45.1 ppg with each of their last four opponents scoring at least 42 points.
    The Hawks average 50.7 yards rushing and 165.3 yards, which rank 9th and 7th in the GSC, respectively.
    Tyler Pullum has passed for a schoo record 1,132 yards to  rank fourth in the GSC.
    Kareem Taylor is fourth in the GSC with 53 tackles, while Justin Fillmore and Nehemiah Reddish are tied for sixth in the league with 49 stops.

UWF-SHORTER SERIES HISTORY
    UWF had its strongest defensive game of the season, holding Shorter to just 98 total yards in a 36-0 victory on Homecoming last season.
    UWF sacked two Shorter quarterbacks five times and pressured them into hurried throws on numerous occasions. 
    The Argos used long scoring plays to stretch a 10-0 hafltime lead to 23-0 edge near the end of the third quarter. Kaleb Nobles found Caleb Robinson on for a 42-yard touchdown before Kevin Grant outran the Shorter defense on a 56-yard strike.
    The Argonauts had one of their strongest rushing attacks of the season, finishing with 143 yards on 36 attempts.
    Nobles threw for 324 yards on 30-for-50 passing with three touchdowns and 19 yards rushing. On offense, UWF totaled 470 yards on 87 snaps.
