PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF volleyball (25-6, 15-0 GSC) roared to a 3-0 win over the the Lee University Lady Flames (18-9, 9-6 GSC) Friday evening in the UWF Field House. Rachel Neblett led the way on Senior Night, notching 14 kills and three service aces while hitting .476. The team's other seniors played vital roles as well. Katy Kuhlmeier posted seven kills and Monique StCyr added 34 assists as the No. 20 Argos notched their 15th GSC win, the most conference wins in a single season in school history. The sweep was the team's fifth straight.
The Argos raced out to a 4-0 lead behind early kills from Neblett in the first. UWF cruised through the set virtually unchallenged, building a 24-13 lead before winning 25-17. Neblett finished with four kills and two service aces in the set. Kuhlmeier finished with three kills. The Argos outhit Lee .281 to .226.
The second set proved much closer. With the score tied at 6-6 early, UWF ignited a 4-1 run to go up 10-7 before Lee battled back to take the lead at 11-10. A key kill by Jordyn Poppen briefly gave UWF the lead at 18-17 before Lee tied it up 18-18. A service error and then a kill by Kuhlmeier would help UWF build a 20-18 lead. Nadine Williams and Neblett piled on late kills to put the set out of reach and help the home team take it 25-21. The Argos outhit Lee .333 to .211 in the set. Neblett finished with five kills in the third. Poppen added five of her own plus a service ace.
UWF outhit Lee .262 to .170 in the third to close the match with a 25-22 victory. Neblett went for five kills and a service ace in the finale. Williams added three kills of her own. The score stood even at 12-12 before a 9-4 lead helped UWF assume a 21-16 advantage.
Williams finished the match with nine kills and two service aces. Poppen finished with seven kills plus two service aces of her own. The Argos posted eight service aces for the match, with Neblett, Williams, and Poppen all posting multiple.
The No. 20 Argos close the regular season tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. matchup vs. Shorter. The season finale will be the program's annual Parents' Day celebration. The Argos will look to close the regular season with a victory and earn the fourth undefeated GSC season in school history.
