*Â UWF entered the NCAA South Regional with 25 victories, tying the school record previously set in 1997-98. Their three wins at the regional established a new school record.
UWF CLAIMS FIRST-EVERÂ NCAA SOUTH REGION CHAMPIONSHIP

UWF CLAIMS FIRST-EVERÂ GSC REGULAR-SEASON TITLE
*Â Without question, the 2016-17 Gulf South Conference season was one of the most memorable for the UWF women's basketball program ... The team went 18-4 and won its first-ever GSC regular-season championship, leading the league for the final eight weeks of the season ... DEFENSE WINSÂ CHAMPIONSHIPS
* One of the keys to UWF's success was its defensive approach thanks in large part to the addition of first-year assistant coach LaQuanda Quick ... UWF led the GSC in FG pct. defense (35.3%), 3-point FG defense (24.5%), defensive rebounds (32.6 rpg) and rebound margin (plus-8.7) ... They also ranked second in scoring defense (61.3 ppg).
