UWF-NORTH ALABAMA SERIES HISTORY
A year ago in Florence, seventh-ranked North Alabama cruised past UWF for a 51-3 win at Braly Municipal Stadium.
UNA scored on the first play from scrimmage – a 63-yard pass from Jacob Tucker to Dre Hall – and defended UWF better than any team had done all season before compiling 528 yards to just 172 for the Argonauts.
UWF was unable to get its offense going beyond one lone scoring drive where it capped an eight play, 84-yard effort with a Austin Peffers 20-yard field goal. The Argos finished with 119 yards rushing and quarterback Kaleb Nobles was just 11-for-26 for 53 yards passing, while being sacked four times.
Daviante Sayles, who rushed 10 times for 76 yards, had the game's longest play, breaking off a 58-yard scamper that put the team inside the UNA 10-yard line before Peffers' kick late in the first quarter. Chris Schwarz carried the ball a career-high 17 times for 61 yards for a 3.6 yards per rush average.
On the kickoff following the UWF field goal, Jaylan Jackson returned it 89 yards for a touchdown. UNA converted six of its first eight third-down opportunities, including scoring runs of 41 and 21 yards to take a 48-3 lead into the locker room.

ARGOS WITH 5 VICTORIES... AGAIN
UWF enters the North Alabama game with a 5-3 record. Last season, UWF also had five victories with three games remaining and struggled in its final games - all losses to UWA, North Alabama and West Georgia.
The 2016 team appeared to hit a wall at this point last season and that need for improvement physically and mentally has been a point of emphasis for the coaching staff and strength & conditioning staff coming into the 2017 campaign.
NOTES FROM LAST WEEK'S 35-18 LOSS AT WEST ALABAMA
* UWF penetrated deep into UWA territory seven times but scored just one touchdown and four field goals while ending with 371 yards of total offense. The Argonauts totaled 100 yards on the ground with Leroy Wilson rushing for 64 on seven carries, including a 31-yarder in the third quarter.
* Mike Beaudry finished with 271 yards passing on 27-of-51 with a touchdown and two interceptions. Antoine Griffin had eight receptions for 90 yards and Rodney Coates finished with 70 yards on four balls.
* For the third time this season, Austin Williams tied his school record with four field goals. He now leads the GSC with 16 on the year.
* UWA clinched at least a share of the GSC title as it accumulated 410 yards of offense, with 220 on the ground. Lakendric Thomas had 106 yards on 18 carries, with a 26-yard touchdown run that came immediately following a Beaudry interception early in the fourth quarter.
* The loss was the first on the road for the Argos, who moved to 3-1 away from Pensacola in 2017.
