PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF men's basketball continued its historic 2016-17 season on Thursday and set a new school record with its 10th conference win of the season after beating Christian Brothers 73-68.

UWF (15-7, 10-7 GSC) has now won six consecutive home games – good for its longest home winning streak since the 2006-07 season.  With 15 wins on the year, the Argonauts have guaranteed its first winning season since the 2011-12 campaign.

"They're a hard team to play against. I think we did a good job of playing well physically," said head coach Jeff Burkhamer. "We did a good job of not allowing their three-point shooters to get good looks and make them play off the bounce."

UWF was led by Darryl Tucker and Deangelo Legrier who had 17 and 16 points, respectively. Tucker and Legrier recorded a team-high six rebounds each. Marvin Jones was also in double figures with 14 points.

UWF shot 48.1% for the contest, including a 50 percent success rate in the first half. UWF went into the halftime break with a 37-31 lead behind 12 points from Tucker.

The Argos turned a seven-point deficit into a seven-point lead with a 14-0 run over 4:55 around midway through the first half. Tucker poured in eight of UWF's 14 points during the stretch.

West Florida had a pair of nine-point leads in the second half before holding off CBU's (14-9, 11-6 GSC) last-chance effort for a five-point victory.

"Going from 0-4 in the league to where we are now, I really cant say enough about our guys. They played through adversity in the beginning. But we've found ways, we've won close games, and we've accomplished some great things. There's still some things for us to continue to work for and we have to do a good job in these last six games," Burkhamer stated.

UWF has a break in action tomorrow before continuing GSC play with Union on Saturday. Tipoff for the men will begin after the conclusion of the women's UWF-UU contest at roughly 4:00 p.m.
